For London Music radio - I tjhink you are correct.

Many station are moving to https and discontinuing their http service.

If the http URL (with default port 80) is used - they are automatically
redirected to the https service.  This causes problem with devices which
do not support https.

A few station seem to be trying to provide a mechanism to maintain a
http service (for legacy devices which do not support https)  and avoid
the redirection to https by having a non standard port - in this case
London Music radio is using port 8000.  It is not a generic solution.
