My bad. It would be boot looping because Squeezeplay didn't start, as
indicated by the fact that you could only see the Logitech screen.

The factory reset certainly reverts everything back to pristine
firmware, providing a fat finger countermeasure. To quote the -ssh-
login message:

A firmware update does _not_ overwrite the contents of the -/etc-
hierarchy, which is where your -rc.local- lives. That may be what you
picked up on.
