Probably not `areas`, since they [have a meaning already in
OSM](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Area). `protected_area` also [has a
specific
meaning](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:boundary%3Dprotected_area).
