CVs to [email protected] Cheers, Joe We're looking for an articulate, methodical, "can do" person with around 5 years experience in Object Oriented development (e.g. Java, C+ +, C#, Smalltalk, Ruby) to join our team in developing a world-class, new online retail website. You will need to have proven skills in the design and development of high-volume commercial websites and the ability to think creatively within an agile development environment. The technology base is Ruby on Rails, though experience in large-scale website design and technical leadership will be looked on as a substitute for direct Rails experience; training will be provided. Remuneration and reward will be commensurate with experience. This position will also be the keystone role in a new team trailblazing changes to the way that Australia shops online, so the level of exposure in a high-growth industry will be hard to beat! Required skills: • Degree in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science, IT Systems or equivalent. • Minimum 2 years commercial experience with Linux. • Minimum 5 years commercial experience as a Web Developer in an Object Oriented language and toolset. • Experience with Agile or XP development methodologies, including Test Driven Development • Solid SQL experience • Minimum 2 years commercial experience with HTML, CSS and Javascript • Strong knowledge of the Internet and its related technologies, eg. TCP/IP, WWW, FTP, Telnet etc • Experience leading a development team through application design, using object oriented techniques and/or UML or similar. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • The ability to communicate technical issues with non- technical personnel. • Excellent analytical and trouble-shooting skills. • A thorough approach to work, emphasising attention to detail. • Ability to participate in a motivated and dynamic team environment. • A thorough understanding and appreciation of business drivers and a strong customer focus.
