Myself and Ryan Bigg are helping out the guys who organise Launch48 Australia, so I though I'd give the heads up on the second Sydney Launch48, which is this weekend.
If you're interested in startups / start-upping or collaborating with people from across the spectrum (i.e. devs, product people, business people , etc) this might be worth considering. I previously participated at a Launch48 event in London. It consists of a pitching round on the Friday night, where people vote for the product concepts they wish to work on. The weekend is then spent validating the idea / building an MVP. It is a typically intense weekend, lots of discussions, building and pivoting. A variety of technical / business mentors are available for assistance. The list of this weekend's mentors is located here: http://sydney.launch48.com/speakers-mentors/ A typical setup for the team I worked with in London, was that we all had a brainstorming session at the beginning, the devs would setup a Rails app, the product guys would go out and interview people, and the business guys would work out the viability and market fit, etc. A few teams have actually come out of the event with companies, but I guess the best thing about it is meeting and working with others from across the spectrum. Usually a lot of good connections / new job positions, etc. are made at the back of it. It's a paid event, but Grant has offered a discount to RoRo (use this code: DISCOUNT10). The ticket page is here http://sydney.launch48.com/tickets/ Cheers, Iz -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby or Rails Oceania" group.
