*Trike Apps (**trikeapps.com* <http://trikeapps.com/>*) *has a vacancy for a full-time junior (entry level) systems administrator, paying $35k—$55k per annum based on experience. We’re open to negotiation if you’re looking for something outside that range.
Here’s what you’ll need to be able to do: *Learn* – you’d be supporting a Mac user base and learning to administer Linux servers. Initially you’ll be spending a lot of time looking after the awesome folks over at our sister company Bellroy. They’re not as geeky as us, so they need a hand looking after their laptops and the services they use (mail, chat, wiki, etc). *Travel* – we’re open to some flexible hours, but this is a full time onsite position with at least one day per week spent in our Jan Juc office if you’re Melbourne-based, or vice versa. *Grow* – you’ll be mentored by a Senior Systems Administrator. As your skills grow, you’ll be able to move into the Systems Administration world – assisting with our many Linux servers using Chef and other nifty tools. If you’re more into programming, there’s scope to assist our team of developers with their (largely) Ruby code base. Here’s what we’re about: *Honesty* – we’re not the next Facebook or Google. We’re a bunch of very smart people with strong opinions that we’re prepared to discuss with you calmly and rationally. Being proven wrong is part of the journey, and discussion is encouraged. We don’t need you to have a laundry list of experience with specific technology; we need you to have a solid understanding of web development principles and to love learning new stuff. We work principally in Ruby and Rails, so ideally you’d have at least a working understanding of those technologies. *Agility* – we use agile in everything we do, and we’re always interested in improving. Everyone’s opinions are put forward and discussed in a rational manner. Our team is small enough that you’ll be influencing the direction of projects, and large enough that there will always be someone who can teach you something new. We have one manager-type person; their job is to ensure you have what you need and then get out of your way. *Quality* – we have discerning clients, and even more discerning colleagues. We want to deliver the best solution that money can buy; that comes from having a team who always strive to be better. You know how you work best better than we do, so we let you choose your tools and help you pay for them. *Utility* – we want you to enjoy your work. We do that by employing nice people with a sense of humour, putting them in a comfortable, relaxed office and giving them cool problems to solve with a variety of technologies. We allow you to be flexible in your working arrangements. We have multiple clients – successful retail businesses (Bellroy <http://bellroy.com/> – slim leather wallets) and communities that make the world a better place (Radiopaedia <http://radiopaedia.org/> – wiki for radiologists, Less Wrong <http://lesswrong.com/> – aspiring rationalist community). Some of our clients are sister companies under our parent – Investling <http://investling.com/> – so we work right alongside them and share their focus on quality and excellence. We do new stuff with new technology whenever it makes sense. We’ve just moved into a new Jan Juc office, and we’re also about to move into brand new offices on Smith St, Fitzroy. If this sounds like the kind of workplace you’d feel at home in, come home. Complete this survey <https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KC6VFN9> and follow the instructions to apply. *No recruiters please*, if we need help with this role we’ll ask for it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby or Rails Oceania" group.
