Often we tend to correct
people or take offence over trivial matters that God should be left to deal
with. On the other hand there are some not so trivial matters that need to
be corrected but....its not what we say as much as how and in what forum we
say it. To quote a phrase "you will catch more flies with honey than with
vinegar".
When we quarrel over the trivial what does the world see? It sees a church
divided and a bunch of hypocrites that refuse to put aside petty arguments
long enough to present the gospel. In the city I go to church in they have a
ministerial alliance. The community pastors overlook their denominational
differences long enough to come together (weekly), pray together for the
community, and work together as a unit to get the gospel out to the
community. No pastor has given up their personal convictions and I won't
pretend they agree on all points of theology....but they have quit bickering
over denominational differences that turns the world away from the church.
They have decided to focus on the unifying constant of Jesus Christ and John
3:16. That's how the body of Christ should be...not silent about sin or
wrong...but careful in how and on what subjects we correct each other so
that the world sees a unified church with a common goal. All rangernetters
have a common goal..."to reach, teach, keep boys for Christ". If we would
focus more on our common goal, earnestly pray for each other and humbly
correct each other I believe that the anointing will flow and the harvest
will be great.
