A while back I bought a frame from a 1928 Ford. It was leaning
against a barn and later that day, I put it in my garage<G>

About the same time I bought a shiney Jeep<G>

I paid thousands!

It was all I thought I desired.. clean, soft 4x4 and even smelled
good. One quick trip to the bank and 48 payments later.. That
Jeep became a *Heap.. dripping oil and smokeing like a wreck.
It needed a new engine and brakes, tires and paint.

4 years later it wasn't near worth what I paid...

*Meanwhile... back at the Ranch<G>

Over that 48 mo's I had found a body for the Ford, engine
seats, brakes and running gear. I had blasted the frame
and painted it fresh.

Just a little work in my spare time, and the project was underway.

I added parts as I went, with a plan in mind for the future!
*I was makeing progress, and recently...
I noted that the value of the accumulated parts was greater
than the *cost I paid! *Wah-Hoo! and it was fun to boot!

Today.. the "value" of a '28 Ford Hotrod is greater than
the price I paid for the Jeep!

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....!
I detect a "trend"<G>

Let's see.. I want to have fun, and build it my way..
mayby I'll learn something usefull, and gain in wisdom!

I want to take something that's not being used, and add
value by working it over... *i can do that...

Let's lay out the 24 merits from the GPH catalog, throw
down a Uniform and all the patches.. and add one boy
as a basic chassis<G> Let's explain the *game to him<G>

Then let's wind him up and let him go!

If he goes at it one merit at a time, he just might enjoy
the process and add VALUES as he advances.. Mayby the end
result is not met by arriveing at the long off goal, but
found in the process of careing about the journey <G>

That something I can enjoy<G>

Mayby parents need to know this..
There is a way to look beyond the obvious to see the potential.

Our care for a brief moment now.. can pay dividends later!

The Goal is to have 48 mo's of Royal Rangers produce a classic
worth more than buying something new off the showroom floor<G>

For that too work their needs to be a plan, and some elbow grease
is involved. Mayby working as a Commander, or OP councilman..
mayby assisting as Advancement Chair.. Facilitating an outing,
dinner or event? *What is it going to take to make the Outpost
go?<G>

As adults, We work "behind the sceans" the boys need to step up to
the challanges presented them. They are the Classics <G>
