Stay by Me I went on hike with some
boys and we went along an old railroad bed, which was filled with tailings from
some mines. There were lots of neat minerals and crystals to explore. I told
everyone to stay together and don't go ahead with out me. It was still
rattlesnake season and I didn't want anyone getting bit or anything like that.
While we were busy looking
at all the beautiful rocks, my youngest son, Jonathan ran on up ahead around a
bend and out of sight. I didn't really notice he had done that but all of a
sudden I heard a strange yell come from up ahead and figuring it must be him I
ran ahead to see what was the matter. Just then he came running back from around
the bend and he looked like he’d seen a ghost. He said a big cow chased him and
he ran off the trail into the bushes to get away. He was really scared and a
little scratched up from the bushes but otherwise he was fine. I reminded him of
what I said about staying together and told him I was glad he was ok.
Now
I realize how God feels when we stray ahead out of His reach. Oh Lord may I
always stay in close touch with you. How I tend to get ahead and then wonder why
you weren’t there to help me. Ps 91:1-13 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He
shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge;
his truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the
terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that
walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand
may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not
come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the
wicked. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High,
your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near
your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all
your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot
against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and
the serpent you shall trample underfoot. Bob Simons
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the
