Hi Victor. I did not create a hypothetical situation. Read Acts 4:18-19. Now I suppose, judging from past experience, that you are going to tell me that this verse has been ripped out of context. However, most everyone never goes for that one, nor do I suspect them to this time either. This is why I thanked you for making my point yesterday, even though I knew you did it unwittingly. I have forgotten what a red herring is, but I am sure that by this time you realize there never was one, after all.

Hi Bob,
Actually I was just being pedantic - Clint created a hypothetical situation in which people were not to preach in Jesus name. I merely pointed out that (as far as I knew) we were never instructed to preach in Jesus name. So you could continue to obey God (Go make disciples) without disobeying the instruction from governemnt.

I'm not sure what you're saying? Were Paul & Silas in error or not?
How about the 2 girls in Afganistan who are in jail for preaching the gospel. God help us if we are not in agreement on the preaching of the gospel!!
I am proud of them and also worried for their safety.

Excellent red herring Clint!
Jesus said to "Go make disciples" - nothing about preaching in His name (correct me if I am wrong here please).
Scripture clearly says to obey those in authority over you.
It is very clear that we obey the word of the Lord as well.
When a contradiction arises - we obey the word of God.

Imagine this:
Two men are released from jail, whipped and ordered not to preach in the name of Jesus anymore. One of them says, "I don't care what they say, I'm doing it anyway." The other one says, "wait a minute. That is stupid. It is illegal, and will invite government intervention."
Which one was obedient, according to the Ranger code?
