Regarding your recent post about resorting to knots tying when commander
does not have a plan, I found myself in that situation when my compadre,
who's turn it was to plan the meeting, did not show up. So, we "practiced"
tying knots. We did this for 4 weeks - we went over every knot required of
Pioneers. We had knot tying contests, with and without blindfolds. I gave
pieces of Levi Pier's Old Fashioned Hickory Smoked Homemade Beef Jerky to
the winners. Then it hit me - why not go for the ropecraft merit. So out
of that one unplanned meeting, the boys earned the ropecraft merit!

I was rather excited to see something develop from nothing.

Excited in the Keystone State,

Levi
