Some of the new training materials will be released at National Council in March. Exactly which of the modules is still to be determined. However, Ranger Basics will definitely be among those released, along with the new ICS and IT seminar. We will also be releasing a "transitional LTC" that is based on the current one, but formatted like the new LTA modules. This transitional LTC will contain some information on the new program, but will primarily be aimed at training new commanders for the existing program while it is still in place. Once the new age group comes out that the commander is working in, then he/she can transition, via a transitional module, to the new program and qualify to wear the new LMA.

The rest of the LTA training modules will be released at National Council 2003, so the transitional LTC will be the training tool to use for new commanders through that time period.

I can only tell you what we in our District and section are doing, as it is up to your own District & Section to set the policy in your local area.

As for our section, we are offering*, for those that want it, a "Fast Track" on the SAB OLD STYLE LTC Courses.  That is almost one a month, until June 2002.   The new Ranger Kids material is scheduled for release at National Council, March 2002.

As for the STANDARD OLD STYLE, we are sticking with our quarterly schedule of  offering* one course per quarter for 2002 and will take a look at 2003 later on.  The new material for Discovery & Adventure Rangers is not due out until March 2003.

We hope to be able to start teaching the NEW Ranger Basics by June 2002, as it will be released in March 2002. ( Due to the size of our District, it will take us a little time to get all of the Certified Instructors trained in all the new material.)  The Rangers Basics course is for anyone that has the OLD style LMA & once they have completed it, can wear the NEW style LMA.

* I say offering, as our District Policy sets a minimum of three students in order to hold a class.  We just canceled a Advanced course, due to lack of interest.

PS: I will attempt to post the entire notice for all to see, as soon as I can.
