Thanks for the vote of encouragement<G>

The "Game" Adult leaders play with the boys<G>
-----------------------------------------------

Troop328 has some un-said rules of conduct that at first
seem strange to a new member and his parents..

Your son will be put in a mixed group of boys, and you
are asked not to interfere with the patrol as it interacts.

Your son may have a question, and it will seem a needless hassle
to have him not go to the Scoutmaster, but to his Patrol leader.
If that question remains, your son needs to bring it to the
SPL along with any upset he might have<G>

You as a a Parent, can ask any Scoutmaster "what is going on"
at any time, and the Leaders will explain everything needed
for you to "see" the "invisible game"<G>

*Time Line for the "Game" to take hold..
---------------------------------------

In Scouting- the first rank (Scout) s a "Membership Rank" like
RR has for "Recruit" and requires no "Board of review".. The next
three "ranks" (*Tenderfoot,2nd class,1stclass) are where the
"scouting skills" are taught with a loose expectation that it
will take one (1) year to achieve First Class.

How this relates to the "Patrol life" is that first year, the
new scout decides if Scouting and the *Eagle is "worth" his
membership in event participation, and getting along with his
patrol as friends and team mates.. The adventure of the year is
attending his first Summer camp, and often the scout can advance
one "rank" and bring home several merits.. from Camp classes.

Advancement comes from the boy and his participation in the troop.
A 'active camper will advance with ease.. He'll know his fellow
scouts as buddies and will have lived with them as "brothers<G>"
*That is the start of the Trail to Eagle.. and the core of the
"Invisible game" *pure enjoyment of friends, and adventure's
togather<G>

What's the "job" of a Adult leader then?
---------------------------------------

We need to make friends, with others like the boys, and agree
in purpose with the Team leader- *Scoutmaster as to the "style"
of invisible game we choose to play<G> T328's leader is a quiet
man, humble who never raises his voice.. but is the most orgainized
and "on purpose" individual I have ever met<G> *He loves all the
boys.. considers them his sons, yet does not show a favorite, or
culture a following. Scoutmast plays the "invisible game well" and
knows that boys are boys, but can be better than they first think.

He askes people to reflect on doing one step better, than the limit
they set for themselves.. *That's all he does<G> The balance of his
time is spent watching the "game" being plaid in his Scout shorts and
Campaign hat<G>

*Not every adult can "Play the game" and sometimes they have to leave.
To me a big part of the "Game" is found in joining... in the fun.

Some of the fun is up my "ally" some of it isn't<G> Some fun streches
me, like tomorrow I "get" to build a Igloo in the oregon winter! or-
drift a river in the Spring-- or Sea kayak in the ocean next Summer.

I'd say the Patrol systm is about the belief of the Leader in the
follower, the Follower in the leader, each in themself and togather
in the cause...<G>

*More?
*Enough?
