At general council that year they looked at it and decided to "Wait and see what the social climate does". Then, at the 1961 general council, after everyone saw that the civil rights movement was a go, the Exec. Presbytery decided to expunge the 1959 resolution from the records. All we ultimately did was offer to let COGIC buy our Sunday School Curriculum from GPH, which they never took us up on. I had a problem with this, but my old mentor tells me that had I been around back then, I might have a little better understanding...
I'm sure we agree that Jesus is *Important and not the gender
of the Minister/Pastor..Yes, we do. Then why bring it up? Why not let the sleeping dog lie right where it is and talk about the development of a new flavor of popcorn... say, "Beaver Tail and Beans", maybe?
