Actually,historically speaking it would be more accurate to say that AG is the white version of COGIC. At the initial meeting in Hot Springs, Arkansas back in 1919(?)the vast majority of ministers there to start a new fellowship were credentialed through the auspices of Bishop Mason, head of the COGIC.
For more info, check out Vinson Synan's book "Century of the Holy Spirit." Excellent work that answered a lot of questions I had regarding the history of the AG and the other Pentecostal groups.

At general council that year they looked at it and decided to "Wait and see what the social climate does". All we ultimately did was offer to let COGIC buy our Sunday School Curriculum from GPH, which they never took us up on. I had a problem with this, but my old mentor tells me that had I been around back then, I might�have a little better understanding...
