off the top of harold's head . . .

I don't know your time frames, locations or budgets, but here are a few of my ideas.

1.  If close to a minature golf place, do golf in the morning, with a barbeque for lunch and an awards ceremony.  You could play the first round as indivduals, play another round (with a different 4 some) where all golf, then use the best shot and every body in the group golfs from there. (this would be a group award), then you could play a round where you add partners scores together.  I would give away as many differnt type of awards as I could so everybody could get something.

2.  Make kites . . . best design, most original, most creative, highest flying, etc. . . then lunch and awards.

3.  Have a one day pinewood dery . . . make cars in the morning, have lunch, then race cars.
(this goes over really well at our church)

4.  Have a rain gutter sail boat day regatta.

I have also taken pictures as people arrive, go to a one hour photo lab and put the
pictures in a small frame or holder to pass out to everyone with a participation certificate
at the end.  I still see photos hanging in peoples houses years later.

I, too, am looking for ideas.  I'm wanting to approach my Sr. Commander about doing a BBQ and games day to try and get some new boys interested in Rangers and some men committed to helping.  I hadn't thought of a name, yet, but "Dreams and Visionaries" is GOOOOOD!  I like that or maybe I'll adapt to some mutation of the name.

What I'd like is some games that split the fathers and boys to make teams of men and boys working together, not relying on family ties.  I also want to try and have some kind of games where everyone has a good chance to win, since I have some boys who are NOT athletic at all, but still get upset when they don't win.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Subject: [RR] Need ideas

I am setting up a Dreams & Visionaries Day at our Outpost (Men & Boys) it will not be a "Father & Son Day" do to the fatherless boys in our outpost. I know what it feels like to have a stand-in father.

We are going to have a Barb-B-Q and game. What I am looking for a game ideas to use on this day. April 6th in the day set for this event and I will be speaking to both groups about our need for commanders and mentors.

I could use the help with ideas for this event but most of all I could use the prayers.

In His Service
Commander Kevin
