Southern Missouri District has a week long NW Div. Sponcers it.  Don Bixler is the camp organizer.

We have had 2 sectional lockins that run for about 18 hours that have been a tremendous success.  Focus in on 4 merits and try to get them through all 4.  Works great. Some merits do require home work so if you have incomplete steps you will need to have something indicating what steps they worked on and communicate that to the boys commanders.

p.s. It is also a good fund raiser for your section.  We charge 10.00 basic. 2 meals. 3 snacks.  Red Cross and CPR is 15.00 for the boys and 20.00 for the leaders.  Merits that require materials like carpentry we charged another 5.00.

It will help to bring your section(s) together.

Hey all,

Just came from our sectional roundtable meeting and something came up there.  One commander talked about Advancement camps, where Rangers come and camp out for a weekend and work on merits.  They can earn several by the end of the week.

My question is this:
Do any of you have experience with this kind of thing?  Can anyone help me gather information on planning, executing and/or anything else I need to know?  One commander wants to try and plan a short one for a weekend this summer, but we want to start planning a long one for next summer, should Jesus wait to come for us.

Also I'm open to pros and cons of this type of earning of advancements based on the recent strain of "What do you do?" posts.
