Subject: [RR] A brainstorm? or more of a
drizzle?
I thought of something I could do to help my boys
with their merits. We are trying to do a combination of old and new
(transitional) programs to advance our boys. We haven't advanced a boy
in years, now I'm involved and want to stir up our boys and help them in the
Rangers program.
My thought was this: Since commanders may
now earn the "trail to the . . ." as well as the boys, I would commit myself
to working through the plan with the boys. Each week, I would try to
have something to sign off on. The boys and I would keep each other
accountable. I'm thinking of letting boys sign me off on
requirements. Whichever boy I sign off on that night, signs off on
me. If more than one boy gets signed off that night, we have a Bible
trivia face off. I have a set of Jr. Bible Quiz questions.
Whichever boy gets the most right, gets to sign on me.
I'm hoping to spark an excitement in the boys,
and have fun myself. What I don't know is if this is maybe selfishness
on my part, a little. I was never a Boy Scout and didn't grow up
Assemblies, so was not in Rangers. Thus, I never earned merits or
advancements, and this is my *opportunity*. Am I just being a big
boy, or am I trying a new ministry method for the boys?
