Our Outpost is a boy led outpost. We have a table of Organization very simular to NTC in place. Weekly meetings are planed by Sr.Guide and his "Gold bar staff" with assisance from Commander. these "Patrol planning sessions" are monthly where the boys set the agenda for the meeting features 30 to 60days out with a "writen plan" Outpost communication is by Phone tree-E-mail and face time. *Those "on stage" for the next meeting as instructors ect. recieve a reminder call BEFORE the meeting day to final prepare. 85 boys are in 9 patrols currently.. and 50% of our Patrols are brand new.. with one outdoor campout under the belt. On the "normal" outdoor event held about once or more a month all year in ALL WEATHER... the Patrols are responsibile for feeding themselves and provideing cook gear and shelter. At the normal event- the Outpost provides transportation by privet cars or a group of vans. Adult leaders and parents who camp stay togather, and act as their own "Patrol" exchangeing duties with each other as the boys do. WHO PAYS for the food? ---------------------- Each patrol has recieved training to deal with menu planning- shopping ect. Because the patrol "eats family style" issues as to what to bring or buy stay in the patrol... as do independent family issues in the home. Do it right and you have plenty food to go around and everyone plays fair. Do it wrong.. and someone get shortchanged. WHERE DOES PATROL PRIDE COME FROM? ---------------------------------- Our "Presidential" patrol- the Bears.. were number one at Powwow by useing teamwork. The events were laid out and a plan developed to hit each station as fast and complete as possible. the Energy came from one boy who had 4 years of "almost winning field games" and was serious about playing the game... He streached their horizions with good Leadership. The Patrol "bought" what the Leader was saying- "Guys- for 4 years, we allmost made presidential but failed because we didn't stick togather as a group.. this year let's stick togather no matter what we feel like, and RUN between events! *They created their own unique joy<G> They just "got into it"..
