In General my "tone" often is likely to be a critic.

I've prayed with boys, laid hands on them, and dog-piled
in games.. all with good intentions.. *that however may not
be enough.

I have also whitnessed enough to know how easy it is that
abuse can happen.. We work to build "relationships" and
with time, the boys do become free with emotions and their
trust. One boy in the troop is from a large family and his
form of "friendship" is to cling.. or touch my arms and come
close with his body.. to me and other Adults.

*I feel a flush of anger.. at this, for it is innocent but
also un-called for. I have found myself moveing constantly
away from this boy, avoiding eye contact and frankly thankfull
that my son and wife are present, and know what is going on.

Scout training, describes a likely abuser to be passioned about
mentoring, coaching and shareing personel beliefs ect. To quote:

"If it's too good to be true- is probley is un-true!"

The other night, for a advancement requirement the Scouts must
raise a flag at a flagpole and show respect.. We have a flag
pole and out the door I went with a boy.. and stopped dead when
I saw it was past dusk..

"Hey.. We need to find you a buddy first to do this.."

And went back, found a fellow scout.

*They didn't know my 'concern, was other than "Buddy System"
related.. *but it felt good to be safe. It even feels good
to not be as fired up, as I have been in the past!<G>
