Habbenzee ACME products in Dutchland?

Oh well , no. Have not noticed any.
But I am sure at the Ramstein or Spangdahlem Air Force Base PX they sell stuff of that brand.

Like you know from liveing in Canada, the stores are
filled with product today, all packaged in clear plastic.

They are clean and well lit.. and while you only need one
bolt, you must buy 6 in the package and try them out after
purchase in the parking lot.. then hassle exchangeing them
with a lady clerk.

Same here. Just the other day I needed six brass bolts but had to buy eight.
Anybody out there needing a M5x40mm brass bolt ?
But something sweet happened here in Krautland.
The lady clerks and salespersons in the stores turned into friendly and helpful persons.
They realized that you are actually a real person that would leave some bucks on the counter for cargo.
Before you had to wonder if they carried a Walther P-38 under their apron.

In "Old America" the Hardware store was a jumble of disorganized
leftover products, odd-ball fittings that they would just give
away if you bought some paint or fuel<G>

Say you where building a Jet pack to catch a roadrunner-

Old hardware store owners would spend 2 hours messing with
plumbing parts and electric and "rig something up"...

They would charge $1.45 and say "Just a buck will do.."
"and i got this ACME jet fuel sitting around.. it's yours if you want it"

I miss that. Got to meet and make friends.
Also this was the breeding ground of new building projects.
We had a store like that here.
Unheard of fittings and bearings, metal rods of unusual shapes, outdated screws and gaskets for your vintage faucet.
Friendly treatment by an old lady with a bun, helpful and knowledgeable.
Her fingers had that cast iron coloring from digging hooks out of treasure boxes full of precious junk.
With a smile on her face she would tell you that after 60 years you are the first pilgrim asking for that particular item and would give give you the rest of the contents for 10 Pfennig.
"Glad to help you. On your way out you might find that carton on the left of that stack of brooms interesting.
Machen Sie es gut bis zum nchstenmal."
The lady gave up two years ago.
Outdone by the plastic box superstore.
