Hi fellow Rangers. With the end of the year in just a couple days. I wanted to remind you to update your RR records and close your books.
I do this by copying my existing records to a new directory right below my application directory using the current year or date range of the records. I do the same with my pictures. If your using the Ranger Database, make a new directory below the c:\rangers\rr\2002 then simply select all the files in the c:\rangers\rr\ and copy them to the c:\rangers\rr\2002 folder. This way you have all records preserved in case you need to pull some records for someone who has moved on and needs records...months or years later. Then to bring your records up to date. I remove the inactive rangers from the database that I use to track my current rangers with. I do the same in the advancements, outings, meetings related databases. So on Jan 1st your ready to go with a fresh current cleaned out filling system. As far as a backup system. I recommend a removable hard drive bay (cost is about 24.00) and rotate your backups between 3 hard drives. One that you keep out of the house. With the Norton Goback and Ghost software a good safe backup is a few minute job and the price of Hard drives is by far the best backup you can have for a couple hundred dollars. It really surprises me all the churches, business's and homes that don't use a backup system. Most people when asked... just give you a blank look and point at the computer. When their data is gone it is gone.... Well. What are you all waiting for? Happy New Year!!!! HURRRAAAHHH!
