Unfortunately, in some cases the trend is almost reversing itself so
that the term "minority" no longer means what it was intended to mean:
*a numerical minority*. In California, for instance, Hispanics are the
official NUMERICAL majority, body for body. (Nothing wrong with that of
course, just making an observation based on the census poles).

In some cases, those commonly referred to as "minorities" are not the
actual numerical minority, though they enjoy extra 'rights' that
actually end up discriminating against those who are not classed in any
officially listed "minority" group.

Rightly so, such laws were intended to protect against discrimination,
in order to make all men equal... but the playing field is in no way
equal.

The true practice of "equal opportunity" is a thing of the past. Though
the idea was on the right track, the method for making such equality to
be reality has skewed in the resulting legislation, making it quite
unequal for all concerned.

I saw it in the Military on nearly every level for 12 years (the best
man for the job could get passed over due to legislation aimed at giving
one minority or the other a chance at success, even though they may not
have been the obvious choice for the job), and I see it in other laws
that get passed by the majority of voters, then ignored due to
"minority" complaint. (Prop 209 in CA, for instance).

Don't get me wrong... when I've hired folks, it was always the best most
qualified person that got the job (providing their pay requirements were
within the budget).

The best workers are those who appreciate the fact that they have
employment, and are willing to do the job to support their family... no
matter what "class" or "race" they are. Those who use their status or
race to influence their surroundings to suit there personal pleasures or
benefit package, class or race, are the ones who push then envelope, in
my opinion.

Ironically enough, Hell itself will have the body for body majority at
the end of time as we know it... but they won't get the luxury of
overturning God's judgement with a majority vote... in With God on the
bench, the minority is the majority... :-)

Just some rambling...

Andy.
