Here's what I did over thanksgiving- I've been collecting "Air Cooled" vintage tin and reading: "How to keep your Volkswagen alive..Instruction for the Complete Idiot" by John Muir. I've used this over the years as a place of refuge to rest my "mind" from it's first publication in 1969 to the 19th printing.. *Brain Candy! I aquired a '67 Porsche without running gear and managed to put it togather with swapmeet finds and Internet leads<G> *But also included is enough extra parts to set the mind wondering and what else is out there.. So- looking and hunting! (don't tell Cdr.Jen...) I passed a large thicket of Blackberry vines and found a VW "pan" with a prized pre-'65 King pin front end<G> *That got me started building a sand rail.. Then.. on a side trip into the Cascade foot hills, I discovered a DEAD Type2 Transporter single cab! Over the side I went with Ox-Acetleine torch.. and bag of Fritos<G> Now.. in my prized section of "Der Rancho Deluxe" is the entire rear end of the '63 splitty it's swingarm trans and reduction boxes the mount and the tin from indise the old bus... 12volt 1600 duelport under konstruction...
