Just an update,
The wake for Seth will be Thursday night Dec 18th,
7-9 pm at 1st AG Raytown, Mo.
The funeral will be Friday Dec 19th 11:00am at 1st
AG Raytown, Mo.
The story, as I understand it, Seth left with 3 of
his cousins for a duck hunting trip at 3 AM Sat morning. The weather was getting
rough, wind-rain-snow, when they arrived but they decided to go ahead with
the hunt. They all got in the boat with their chest waders on but no flotation
devices strapped on. About 100 ft from shore their boat started taking on water
then a heavy gust of wind tipped the boat all the way over. Another hunter in a
boat came to their assistance and was able to get them all to the side of
his boat. He got three of them in but Seth said he couldn't hang on anymore,
slipped off and went under.
I worked with Seth personally when he was in
Straight Arrows and Buckaroos. If you want to know what hard core Rangers is all
about...this is it. I know that Seth was a Christian and is God's presence.
His cousins were not Christians at the time but at least one has now accepted
Christ as his savior. We do not know the time of our death but we need
to ask ourselves what kind of influence will our death have on those around us?.
Will they see our Christian witness and want what we have?
I understand that at least 5 RR's from the So Mo
district have died this year and only God knows how many more around the world.
My wife and another RR commander made the comment that there is a war coming and
God is calling some trained warriors into service.
Am I/are we doing all we can to see that these
young men/ladies are ready to meet God? Are we training them to be spiritual
warriors where ever God may want them? When you see a young buck die
at such a young age it puts an urgency on our commission to "reach, teach,
keep". We have no way of knowing who is next but we need to make sure they are
ready.
For those working with 5-6 yr olds (or even
younger)... its never to early to present the gospel or for them to accept
Christ. My #1 son accepted Christ just before his 3rd birthday ... I knew
because he responded to an alter call in children's church and after that
he would walk around the house talking to Jesus as only a 3yr old can. He died 4
wks later...who but God could have known? If the fire in your soul
has gone cold you need to get down on your knees, get out the flint and steel
and rekindle that fire. If the fire is not burning bright in our lives how will
these young RR's see where to go?
For those of you that have been discouraged
with the "politics" of RRs, personality conflicts and all the changes
in the new RR curriculum, please don't give up. Keep your eyes focused on Christ
and your mission and let God take care of the rest.
Well it looks like I've gone to preaching or maybe
meddling again. Forgive me.
Rekindle the fire .... fan the flames ... let the
whole world know.
