I think this is correct. I may consider myself a GOP er, but I believe it
would be wrong for me to call it the party of Christians. On election day
when the rubber really meets the road how important are the issues really?
How many Sunday Christians are really worried about the issues? How many of
them will take that stand? We can listen to all of the rhetoric we want, we
know what we believe as Christians but how many Christians are going to go
to the polls and actually vote? If these issues were important to the
Sunday Christians, they would be out there voting and making a difference
enough to tip the scales but they are not. Work or football is more
important to Sunday Christians.
I think it is Sunday Christianity that we should be taking a stand
against. Bush isn't perfect. He makes mistakes like all of the rest of us,
it's just his tend to get noticed a little more. But Bush has demonstrated
that he is a principled man with integrity, whether it's right or wrong,
still goes a lot farther than that of Clinton's. I don't consider Bush to be
a Sunday Christian or a Christian whenever it suits him.
I feel it's the Sunday Christians, the people who agree with everything
the preacher says but only on Sunday, that are the ones who need to wake up
and smell the java. I'm glad it's God who is keeping the tabs on this and
that I don't have to. Doesn't mean be complacent about it. Sunday
Christians are an element of why I believe that things are going from bad to
worse instead of getting better. They are an element of the bigger picture
and the bigger picture is on the long range strategic map. Time is getting
closer for Jesus to come back. Sunday Christians only look at the tactical
map and completely ignore the strategic map. I think the Lord is going to
come and shake all of this out separating the Sunday Christians from the
real Christians. To quote a Christian music group I listened to in the 80's
"Who will stand and who will fall, who will be there afterall?" The ones
who are there afterall are the Real Christians, the ones who fell are the
Sunday Christians.
