Well, we had a great weekend! We had a District Winter Blast for Discovery
Rangers and older. Basketball and Video game racing tournements on Friday
nights and Pinewood Derby on Saturday. There were approximately 150 boys
and commanders, some of whom drove for 2 or 3 hours or more for a Friday
night and Saturday morning. Quite a turnout, especially since District
Staff were hoping to get enough registrants so they would not have to
cancel. It was my first major event as Sr. Commander of our outpost, and,
thankfully, everything went well.

We went with our entire group of seven boys, one Adventure Ranger age, six
Discovery Rangers. Only two of them come to our church regularly for
anything other than Rangers, my son and our Rainbows sponsor's son. The
rest only come for Rangers. Friday night's devotion at Winter Blast, three
of our boys went forward, two for the first time, and one for a
re-dedication. PRAISE GOD!! Two or three others went forward at the second
altar call for prayer for "other" issues. Don't know the exact count, I was
busy with the other three.

Also of interest was the FCF table. Our FCF District Pres. was selling
beads and necklace making materials and had knives for sale. Also gave
prizes (candy) from the treasure box for naming animal pelts and bringing
trash they found outside.

As a result of Saturday's devotion by FCF President and said table, we now
have several boys interested in FCF. And I thought I already had my work
cut out for me! LOL, Now I have even more, getting boys ready for the Trail
of the Grizzly.

Just wanted to update and inform. Also, the list has been nearly as quiet
as a tomb lately, so I wanted to liven it up just a little.

In His Grip,

DJ
