Sat.Night's 1960's we'd watch the black and white Grand ole' Opry and
the syndicated TV shows out of Nashville on backwater LA TV Channel 13
Earnest Tubb sang and would flip his guitar backside to the camera..
and tip his Cowboy hat! (What do you think it said?)
Willie Nelson had a flat-top then and Wailon Jennings was clean cut.
Dotty West and Skeeter Davis sang and Porter Wagoner was a solo act.
Sunday we got up and made breakfast while Southern Gospel was on
the "Bob Pool Show" The word "show" seemed strange to me because
in the old days, that term was a "worldly term"<G> A more "Christian"
phrase was "Presentation"
I allways have shineing my shoes linked to Southern Gospel in my
mind.. the smell of Kiwi wax and the buff brush. Dad would fire up
the Oldsmobile 88 and we'd go to church.
My Dad was a song service leader, and could solo on two songs-
1. "Just grab yur cross and follow close to me"
2. "Mansion over the hilltop"
*Like you the talent stoped short at WW2 <G>
