He you lucky ones ! I remember AFN bringing ONLY one hr. of the Opry on Saturdays back in the sixties ! They even had"Chapel of the Air" EVERY night from 1850 - 1900 ! Well, they got more and more enlightened and took it off the air.
Then once a week I was able to listen on Thursdays I think, over shortwave,-squeal, scratch, hammer, fade, disappear. They had Jimmy Snow as a follow up of the Opry if I am not mistaken. Bringing the Evangel Temple Choir that backed up Johnny in "A thing called Love". Johnny went to Evangel Temple in Nashville. Anyways, I was in heaven when I was able to pick up that station. Keeping in mind that I was still a "Bretheren" at the time. Got to hear Kathrin Kuhlman over the same radio station. "Hellloooow theeere". Did you not say once you played the same tape on your forestry truck ? Some guys mentioned you picked the banjo. How can you say the talent stopped at WW2 ? What did ernest Tubbs guitar say on the back ? (Since I was not able to watch B&W TV.) Well, then you probably heard Sara Ophelia Colley too.
