How do you say 'Happy New Year" in the local language (what is teh language by the way) over in your part?

There are about 950 languages spoken in Papua New Guinea. It is the most linguistically diverse nation on the planet Earth. At least 650 languages are catalogued at http://www.sil.org/enthnologue/. I only speak two of the Papua New Guinea languages fluently.

Melanesian Pidgin (Tok Pisin) is a trade language that is widely spoken, and is a second language to lots of people. I know it well enough to preach, teach, share the Gospel, and carry on an intelligent conversation in it. In Tok Pisin, "Happy New Year" might be said:

"Hamamas bilong dispela niu yia i go long yupela!"

(It is kind of a wordy language with a small vocabulary so it takes longer to say things.)
