[RR] Ministry server situation report

A sad thing happened while migrating the RangerNet.org web site and 
mailing list to a new server, along with a BUNCH of other ministry web 
sites and mailing lists. (The combination had outgrown a normal web 
hosting account-- even a large expensive one. Most of the growth was in 
the World English Bible project, not RangerNet.) Some interaction 
between software packages, possibly combined with hack attacks, totally 
messed up the server email handling to the point where it has to be 
essentially wiped out and restarted. In the mean time, the new server is 
handling the web hosting load, and the old server is handling the 
mailing lists. This took some configuration magic, but it is working. 
Mostly. The web-based mailing list interface is broken... and I'm 
probably not going to take the time to fix it until the migration to the 
new server is completed. That will take a week or two.

I probably wouldn't maintain RangerNet at all, if it weren't for the 
fact that it really doesn't cost much extra to ride along on the coat 
tails of the World English Bible project (which ministers to many more 
people), and if I didn't believe that God uses it to encourage you in 
children's ministry. I hope I'm right.

This temporary majordomo list should tide us over until I get the new 
server up and running as I imagine it. It should be very nice, with a 
much better web interface for subscription management, automated bounce 
handling, and in-house archiving of messages. It will take me a while to 
do it. Configuring a server in the USA remotely from Papua New Guinea is 
kind of like building a ship in a bottle, but more expensive. I pay 
$0.55 per megabyte to access the Internet, and that for a connection 
that is much slower than the average dial-up connection, but less reliable.
