After reading the account of the testimonies of the young people at
Columbine High School, I ask myself, "Would I have been so bold to share my
faith at 14 or 15 back in high school? "

Last night we attended an Eagle Court of Honor for one of Joshua's fellow
Boy Scouts. Joshua being the Chaplain's Aide of Troop 328 and had been asked
by the Eagle candidate to give the Invocation and Benediction at his
upcoming Eagle Court of Honor.

In front of 40+ Scouts and their families and guests, Josh walked up front
and center with his Bible. He slowly unzipped the leather cover and read
from the New Testament. He told the audience that we were gathered together
to give tribute to whom tribute is due. At the end of the ceremony he closed
the meeting with a reading from the Bible about "the high calling of
Christ" - to keep our eyes on the prize. Then Joshua closed his Bible and
explained to the audience what Paul had meant by the passage. Joshua closed
in prayer reminding all that we are called by God to do HIS will all the
days of our lives. There was a silence amongst the crowd as Joshua walked to
his seat. Afterwards several people came up to Joshua and commended him for
his words, obviously struck by the authority that Joshua demonstrated at
just 14 years old. This was Josh's 3rd court of Honor to officiate at.
Normally a Pastor or Priest opens and closes in prayer with a fairly generic
message, but the Scouts have asked Joshua to officiate at THEIR Courts of
Honor, because his prayers and messages are heart felt. God is calling for
harvesters because the harvest is ripe.
