Dear Commander Barnes:

I have to tell you that there is an impersonator on the Web claiming to be
you.

What the impersonator had to say was true. But I wish he had not felt he
had to use your name to get our attention and say the same thing that
serious minded people all across the web are already telling us.

It was easy for me to tell it wasn't you doing the talking. Everyone who
knew you when you were on this earth would say the same. We remember your
voice. The impersonator didn't use the same tone of voice you used when you
would counsel us for bad decisions we made. You would speak as a wise and
loving father and not talk down at us for our mistakes. I thank God, I was
privileged to have met the real Johnnie Barnes. And there, in Johnnie
Barnes, was the kind of man that everyone would want to impersonate.

God bless the memory of Commander Johnnie Barnes and God bless the RangerNet
and its contributers and readers.
