I have a son very close to the GMA and there is a real possibility that he
might stall... He along with others has heard that changes comming might
liberalize the GMA and has questioned the integrity of the ranger
achievement program in changeing before the "GOLD-TRACK" was fully
implimented. His view is that the "worth" of the GMA is being questioned
by the leadership of his church.
I don't have tha answer for this boy...
He started the Old Pioneer program and when GoldTrack arrived he went back
and re-did.. *not convert but re-did the achievements..
In his Outpost a new childrens pastor arrived, to impliment a shut-down
of Rangers that competes against Uth... the opinion of Chilrens pastor
was that he's the "Boss" and could sighn off on the GMA and award it.
*This turn of events gave ->A No.1<- a Royal Ranger "wedggie"......
(when news is so shocking that yur longjohns ride up...)
Looking around the district.. the quanitative quality of GMA achievers
is a mixed bag. Christian fellowship seems to blind us to real
achievement and leadership goals.
The point in all this is that emotional hurddles have needlessly been
placed before many Ranger boys. The faith we pledged to stand beside
*any boy... seems to have, like sand.. washed away under the feet of good
boys and good leaders.
The lack of advancement records now seems more weighted on the integrity
of the Ranger leader than the Church- the Boy or the Parent/Dist. staff
and National Office has no way to verify the actual *EARNED advancements
or validate that the leader who signed off was trained and in-line with
LTC-NTC standards..
When the GMA spans the life of a boy's chilhood..the potential for
failure is high. *many apparently worthy GMA boys just give up the fight
to make sence of a hodge-podge system... thus we achieve under 1%
