In regard to Phase 2. I dont have the book in front of me but I think it is
much like we do in N . Cal.
What we do is have the boys gather at a spot a short distance from the main
FCF camp that has been set up. They are met by Members in standard royal
Ranger Uniforms. All paper work is collected and their gear is checked.
After it gets dark they are taken down a trail where they are met by the
Boosway in FCF dress. He then explains that the fur company is in need of
new recruits and they have been chosen. He then starts them towards camp.
Somewhere along the way they are set upon by savages who demand a toll to
pass. The greenhorns then give up their candy bar and canned food. Later
down the trail they are stopped by a camp guard. After the Booshway
identifies himself to the guard he lets them pass. At that time they enter a
part of the trail that is lit by torches and small logs each with one of the
symbols from the FCF fire. They are then welcomed into camp for some
fellowship. At that time they see the members and the camp for the first
time. They are then signed up with the clerk and given their instruction and
purchase with their beads the items necessary for the tests. They are then
taken out to guard the camp that night and to read their handbook and make
their choker. The next day they are given instruction in several classes.
In the afternoon they are tested. After the testing is done we have a big
dinner for all. At the evening fire the new members are welcomed in and we
share communion.
This is very effective and is something that all remember for a long time.
