*Cdr.Jen and I felt an instant rapport with Cdr.Brian Hendreckson... He was charming, open and honest- *very in tune with his role and opportunity to improve the program/ministry... Because of the GMA ceremony we were privileged to see the interactions with him and friends from his former church in Nor Calif. town of Laytonville... His pastor there is now pastor and sectional commander of our area! The inter-action of these guys showed real *Character and a positive spin on the leadership of Cdr.Marriot in leading the re-vision to the program. *I'm a Cdr.Marriot backer! *What we didn't see was promotion of the foundation to include the parents in the Royal Ranger outpost as merit councilors, or have them serve as members of a "board of review" for the boys as they advance... This may be in the planning, but what was presented was *vision and *patches all over the place!<G> When the rubber meets the road a successful outpost MUST blend "all hands" in ministry to Christ! The perspective presented was "from Men to boys" and had a limited discussion of virtues of character building in the boys and the leaders.. by use of the most effective tool- the Patrol! *I heard that National is receiving input from *you and giving it back in a re-newed program palatable to pastoral concerns... uniform changes and expanded options... to make it easier in small churches! Cdr.Jen shared the concern that in small churches a "Commander Dad" is using his wife as his best back-up and resource.. to the success of the program. For them to travel to a Dist. Powwow and confront the cold shoulder of fellowship is not needed when we can *expand our fellowship to every leader who currently serves with an open and honest relationship of the National program to real leaders...
