Part of the fun of Ranger Camp is "Trader row" every 4pm to 6pm
down below the pond on the ground..
Josh "WR" and myself make little wool bags with a leather thong
tie and mayby add a wooden bead or two...
They come from a source I found in town of remnent Pendleton Indian
blanket material in all kinds of wonderfull colors...
Up and down the "Row" are horns and rabbit pelts and beads for crafts..
In FCF we make a lot of our gear, and this year I traded a rotten Elk
skull from a boy who had it out in his back yard all winter for some of
my "special bags"... The thing stank, but the horns could be made into
buttons or knife handles..(*Lucky me!)
Traders row can go both ways- *Buying or Selling... talking about
relitive values and how to bargan effectively<G>
You can try the same thing for a Meeting idea...
Have the boys bring toys or games they want to exchange with
other Rangers and ride "herd" on the doings...!! Make it fair..
and safe..
Write up a memo to the parents and send it home describeing
your Royal Ranger swap meet idea<G>
No knives- No live ammo<G>- No money!
