Josh "WhiteRiver" and -=A=- went to lunch today, hit the junk store..
ate a burger, bought a snorkle mask and tube at "the Next Adventure"
and stopped in at Portland Music to look at basses...

There was a wall 16' tall, full of high gloss thumpers!

A salesman came over, and asked us if we needed help.. if any of these
koool catz were "pull'n yur gig." <G> We shined him on and he countered
by reading us like a book.

It was amazing.

"Lot's of folks come in and look but never make an *INFORMED DECISION..
*If you have 5-6 min's I can wise you up quick to basses!"

"Ok, said 2 bumps on the log<G>"

"Well first you need to know that the bass is what "moves the earth" and

if you are going to play bass... PLAY BASS!"

(Josh and me listened to a lesson on life, music and makeing choices
for now and for the future... between the lines were heard a story and
the music of one man's life.. and he laid a simple wisdom on us...)

*choose wisely- invest and it will carry you away...

Bass players reek "cool"...... You can have plenty of spandex rockers
with wammy bars, but "control" is the domain of cool... the Bass man
is foundational to the song. No one comes to listen for long to the
wild hot licks without a solid beat at the bottom, and when there is
a bass line that is alive.. the people come alive!

"Stevie Ray" pluged in and showed us a line that is 'correct but lacks
life-groove-soul! *Then he played it broken... with a beat, and we
felt something different! It LIVED!

He laid it out... "hard work" is giveing into a destiny, a goal that you

select to follow not today but 5 years away, behind a 'mentor or a
"hero"
and intertwine your life with theirs, to go where they went and
beyond...

(*Josh was buying it<G> *Stevie Ray was "selling!")

*Devotional conclusion?<g>
