Last year, our Ranger Chapin, my wife (RR Commander of SA & B), one
capable (for camping) Missionette leader, one mother (interested in her
girl), my son (a Pioneer - I wouldn't leave him at home alone) and myself
(Pioneer Commander) took the Missionettes who were 9 years or older on a
campout that they earned (the Pioneers had bailed out on unloading from a
campout and the Missionettes helped me without being asked - now that's
serventhood if I've ever seen it).

We showed the girls how to:
Setup one of our ten man cabin tents and they did the other two.
Cook EVERTHING over the camp fire and they did it.
Go on a hike through the woods and identify things that were seen and
they did it.
Setup a safe fire and do a one / two match fire and the majority passed
on ONE match (yes I made them certificates showing there achievements
and awarded it to them at the Missionettes advancement services
infront of the Church)
We even covered the basic's of Cut and Chop and they did it correctly.

Yes, I told the boys that the girls listened and did as they were told -
due to that, the girls stomped the boys into the ground. The next camp
out, the boys made an attempt to redeem themselves.

Now, we are instituting an annual camp out for the girls. I'll let
everyone know how the next one goes.
