This position is used quite frequently it seems. It's strange to me that if
we're discussing something that isn't popular now but it was OK in the Bible
- then we hear this - it's a different culture. Guess what? It was a
different culture that Christ spoke to on the mount. It was a different
culture that hung Christ on a cross. It was a different culture that stoned
Stephen, hung Peter on a cross upside down, and murdered thousands of
Christians in open shows in front of thousands.
The Truth remains the same. If the Bible said it was true then, then it's
true now. Period. Argue all you want, flame all you want, and try to be as
practical as you want but it's a fact. The culture has nothing to do with
it. Whenever a Christian doesn't like something the Bible tells him to do
that's always the excuse - "it wasn't meant for today, it's a different
culture" - like many denominations teach about the Holy Spirit and His gifts!
Think about that!
