Again, the culture was different. Paul, after preaching in the synagogue ,
when to the town square. In that culture the pace of life was a lot slower.
However, both of you are missing my point any dwelling on minutiae. My
point is that witnessing should be done in a manner that is appropriate for
the situation. If you are with people whose hearts are hardened, your
shouting the gospel at them will push them further away. Remember it is up
to each one of us to always be ready to give an answer, a reason for the
hope we have in Jesus, with GENTLENESS and RESPECT. I don't see where that
happens with someone standing on the street corner shouting at thousands of
people during lunch hour on one of the busiest intersections in Pittsburgh.
Oh, by the way, with regards to John the Baptist - he was dealing with a
group of people who were receptive to initially hearing his message as they
thought perhaps he was the messiah.
As for Paul, most of the groups (after the Jews tossed him out of the
synagogue) he preached to gave him a hearing as they were polytheistic and
wondered what this other God was about. In America, we have people whose
spend their lives trying to stamp out the gospel.
Any, don't miss my point.
Love in Christ,
Kelvin Pier
