Sometime ago I came across the attached article from the Boy Scouts about
putting together a rainy day box filled with stuff for the boys to do when
they are stuck staying out of the rain on a campout. I always wanted to put
a box like that together but never did.
On a Divisional campout we had this weekend our boys spend some of their
idle time out throwing a football when a District Ranger Leader came by and
asked me to have them stop for safety reasons because there were big boys and
small boys together. But I know he believes that boys resort to games like
that because commanders haven't got enough for them to do. So I am
determined to put such a box together. That's where you can help. Submit
your ideas for such a box and I will compile them and post the entire list to
Rangernet.
I will start it off with an easy one. Have good knot tying ropes available
and pull the boys aside for a class. Many of the ideas on the boy Scout list
are very good, but I want more to choose from.
