Tonight, Our Outpost had a Council of Achievement in which we gave the
usual awards to several boys. However some of our leaders sneaked around and
had a plague made for me and at the end of the presentation presented it to
me as well as a $50.00 gift certificate to a local restaurant for my wife and
me to enjoy. I praise the Lord for the leaders we have at our Outpost. They
are a real blessing to me. But the most exciting thing that happened was
this, and I need some suggestions for it.
There is a 86 year old man in our church that gets around great for his
age. He drives himself anywhere he wants to go. Comes to most of the church
services and activities. He even came on a Royal Ranger campout with us this
year. He is a veteran of WW2 and spend many years in the Army. He came up to
me tonight and said he wanted to get a uniform and become a part of Royal
Rangers. Isn't that GREAT? However I am at a loss as to what job to give
him. I told him he would be an Outpost councilman and have a job and he said
he would do it. I don't it to be some honorary thing but a real job. I know
that having him showing up wearing a Royal Ranger uniform with Outpost
councilman bars will make a powerful statement but I really want him to feel
like he is helping. Can anyone give me some suggestions.
