How far have we gone down the slippery slop?
Last night at 9pm est, I watch the movie the 60's. As I watched this I
wondered how far has this nation turn their backs on God.
The movie's starting point was 1962. Just only 17 years after WW2 and
just only 10 years after the Koren War. 62 was the beginning of the Viet
Nam War. I would also call the 60's " the cross roads".
We as a nation(USA) and the rest of the world were at a cross roads.
Families were beginning to come a part at different direction. The music
song of love, searching, drugs, and rebellion.
Authority was being questioned. And prayer was removed out of schools.
Mankind was shaking its fist at God and still is.
I lived through the 60's from the beginning of my teenage years through
to me being 21.
Woodstock 69 was on the otherside of the state from my house. But then
again, i was in boot camp during that event. Did not hear about it until
I was stationed in New Foundland(Dec. 69).
I remember being station in Newport, R.I at a Naval base. During the a
class a riot was going on outside the main gate. Thank God for the
Marines.
I remember going to a small commmunity college during the years of 67 to
69. I parents let me have a room in the basement to do my oil painting.
I borrowed the family sterio for my music. I ended up having a jack put
in. So i could listen to the music without having the rest of the family
listen to it. I trip on the music of the 60's.
The house I lived in now. And the room I use for my prayer, study the
Word, and make clothing for the 18th century. This room was used by the
former kids of family past to smoke dope. The oldest son was a friend of
Bob Dylan. In fact, Bob Dylan visited here when that family lived here.
But as we look back and look at the present. Kids are still searching,
drinking, rebellion, and dope. They are still shaking their fist at God.
There is hope to offer to a dieing world. We the church must be that
light. We must stand in the gap to offer a better way. We must be that
beacon at the dead end which leads to hell.
There is hope. For many of you that read this today. Like myself, have
lived through the 60's being rebellous to God. Like myself, many of us
accepted Christ as our savour and Lord after the 60's. Then there are
many of you either got saved either before or during the 60's. Either
way, we must share our belief in God.
