Commanders, could I get some comments on your philosophy and how you work with boys who have learning disabilities and wants to earn the GMA. Comments may also be on a physically handicapped boy. I was recently asked about a boy in my section how he earned the GMA and yet cannot tie a square knot, orientate a compass, and fail a tool craft test. When he was tested in those areas one on one over a period of time, he was able to complete those areas satisfactorily, but due to a short term memory, he forgets. I'm sure if he had to go before a Board of Review to be tested to see if he had a body of knowledge to be a GMA, he would have failed. For that matter, some normal boys would do like wise.
