(thin-ice and skateing far from the *Official safe shore)
*I don't have the full picture, but have *investigated the compititon
and toady have some interesting *stated figures by Boy Scouts...
(Like Ranger facts..they may be elastic<G>)
Boy Scout-*Eagle Rank earners - 4% of all Scouts.
Today they claim 4.3 million scouts and 1.5 million Leaders as well as
20% of American Boys have had "contact" with BSA...each year. *Wow!
*Anyway I mention these numbers...
----------------------------------
*At a Ranger event I was told by a Dist. Staff that Royal Rangers is the
fastest growing boys group in American and we have passed up BSA in total
numbers... I don't think that is true<G>
*I followed the total numbers of Outposts in 1989 when Cdr.Johnnie died
and it was 5300... Ten years later... I can't find any total growth in
numbers since...or explination.
This is following the Assemblies of God decade of the Harvest where the
goal was outreach and the sponsering of new churches in your community.
THE POINT!
---------
*I think (danger! Will Robinson!) the National Office considered these
"trends" in re-doing the GOLD-TRACK and developing the Challengers..
even in the face of Traditional RR Commander thinking... for good
reason<G>
...along with that the new style GMA!
*A traditional/historical version of Royal Rangers has the Outpost under
Men's Fellowship and the church board.. It hosts the "Boys of the church"
out of the harvest from Sunday school...
This model has fallen on hard times in many churches, untill recently
I saw a quote... from a " source" that only 25% of AoG churches
have functioning Royal Ranger Outposts!
*Focus down to the boys of 1999 and you see the "pressure" to speed
the advancement trail to allow a boy to in "effect" get his GMA ticket
punched *and be able to participate in growing Uth ministry....
I don't "see that" in my church...
As the boys who come to my OP and are doing advancements would have come
in my time/era as well as any time in the future<G> I beleve there are
timeless paths to walk, and remain proud of Rangers! <glowing smile>
So!
*The "why's" are way beyond me... but I gleen this from the demise of the
time elements in Pioneer's and Trailblazers... *and do not find fault or
judge.. just *report "my" understanding...

earn the GMA" Dade Massey said once: "To know Cdr.Johnnie as a ranger,
was to be compeled to achieve" (loose quote -=A=-)
Jflory and Jonathan Trower are still here... after many years as a
