Cdr.Bill Exum OP43 Mt.Hood Christian center.. found dead in
downstairs grarge/office by wife 12:30 am Sunday...

Gresham- It was 12:30 am sunday when Carolyn Exum said she was getting
ready for bed in her split-level home..
She heard her husband cry-out downstairs according to Police. It wasn't a
scream,she told Police, but the kind of loud grumble he made when he was
frustraited or disgusted, so she went down.
Carolyn found her husband lying in a pool of his own blood She ran across
the street to tell a neighbor to call the poliece, but by the time
officers arrived, 43 year old William "Bill" Exum was dead from severe
trama to the back of his head.
Gresham police say the incident is being treated as a homicide- a rare
event in a city of 83,000.
Police report nothing was stolen from the Exum home, and there were no
obvious signs of forced entry. There are also no known suspects...
"It's incredibly wierd, (police) and at this stage of the game, nothing
points to anybody...it's a mystery"
But this is known, Exum left behind a family and a firm faith in God.
The Exums have four young children, who were sleeping upstairs when
Carolyn found her husband spraled on the floor. Friends and neighbors said
Bill Exum adored the children, and was often found playing basketball in
the front of their new home.
Church was the center of the Exum home where the family attenda Mt. Hood
Christian center and 35 year old Carolyn teaches preschool.
"Bill was passionate about his family his faith and God... he was a good
husband and a good man" said neighbors..
Detectives from Gresham,Troughtdale and Multnomah County sherriff's office
continue to serch the home for clues...
