The following are the requirements for the new Low Ropes Safety Advanced 
Merit.

1. Become familiar with the information in a Low Ropes Course Safety 
manual approved by a recognized ropes course agency or instructor.

2. Explain verbally to a certified low ropew instructor the danger of 
adverse weather to a low ropes course.

3. Explain why all equipment should be inspected before each use at the 
low ropes course.

4. Explain the importance of why team communication is important on a 
low ropes course.

5. Explain to a qualified low ropes instructor the meaning of the 
following terms:
 Participant - On belay
                     Off belay
                     Carabiner (D ring) on
                     Carabiner (D ring) off
 Belayer- Belay on
               Belay off
               Carabiner (D ring) on
               Carabiner (D ring) off

6. Demonstrate the following under the supervision of an approved 
instructor:
     Tie a water knot using a web strap designed for life support.
     Tie a "figure 8 on the bight" knot.
     Set a belay line on a low ropes station.
     Belay a person under the supervision of an approved instructor.

7. Put on and wear properly a safety seat harness.

8. Successfully complete at least 10 stations (elements) of a low ropes 
course under the supervision of an approved instructor.

9. Demonstrate under the supervision of an approved instructor and 
explain to him what "spotting" is as it relates to low ropes safety.

10. List and explain what each one of five pieces of safety equipment
should be on a low ropes course.

11. Write a 200 word theme on "What I Learned on a Low Ropes Course". 
Submit this theme to the course instructor or your outpost commander.

12. Take a written test of not less than 25 true or false questions 
given by your low ropes instructor based on the low ropes safety course 
you studied. You must score at least 80% correct to pass.
