yeah 20 degree is fine weather for a camp out. try -20deg with 8 inch of
snow. Had a 14x16 canvas wall tent with a wood stove in one corner for heat.
had it close to 45 inside before a commander with no knowledge of woodstoves
opened all the flues and let out the heat, got it back warm again after the
boys gave him a proper tonuge lashing and he was banned from touch the stove
again.
Breakfast the next morning was interesting but we survived. I would rather
camp in below 32 temps than high 30's to mid 40's with rain harder to stay
warm when wet.
This year our winter camp was a piece of cake warm weather and dry. We
stayed one night after the campout was over and the boys 9 in all total
chanellegde us commanders {3 of us old men)in a game of capture the flag
after dark. The feild was about 15 acres in size a nd the first game was
over in less than 10 min. The second game lasted about 45 min but the score
was old men 2 cocky boys 0.
They couldnt figure out how one old deer hunter , a exmarine. and a
highschool track star could bett them.-----Original Message-----
