*Interesting!
I may not hit the target here... *because I don't know if you'd prefer a
Ranger Leader guide to the GOLD TRACK or better resources for the boys to
use...?
The new BSA Scout handbook has sections for each rank *Tenderfoot to First
Class color coded and at each requirement is the listing for where a scout
can read about the subject and learn the answer... *Looking at each
requirement the "Leader- Adult or Scout" can turn right to the training
information... IN THE BOYS HANDBOOK
As I went thru the Royal Ranger *program we'd allways refer to BSA
training to guide us as a check against Adventures in Camping...
That does NOT mean BSA material is "better" or more correct.. But
they have the resources to put out a "more readible or understandible
field guide handbook"
Currently there is a *Need to update "Adventures"... however our RR
National Staff is not nearly the size needed with the expertese to
completely reserch and develop a replacement book.. on our own.
Changes in camping techneque as well as ethic point that while Rangers
Adventures in Camping has served well... *It's replacement should be
upgradeable or revised on a regular basis...
*What would be Excellent...
Is to find a manual of camping produced by another group with larger
resources or perhaps more focused on Outdoor skills and "piggy-back"
or authorize the use of say... a Red Cross publication or a Search
and Rescue manual...
GOOD NEWS!
*Because... RR does not give a reference to a resource, that would allow
us to impliment the new material without reprinting every GOLD TRACK
handbook untill whatever review is scheluled...

*The answer is... *Commander has to dig!<G> Look at the camp equipment
offerings in the GPH catalog.. *Trinkets! ...you and I know the Green
Canteen is archaic compared to the Naglene Bottle and a "bladder hydration
system"<G>
"Raiseing the Standard" is just within the ability of the Local OUTPOST.
That's where a on-fire Commander..Heheee (<G> thought of a vision of *me
running out the tipi with a burning can of fuel) ...anyway
IT's in the local Outpost where change is best implimented!
